About The Department

The regulation and supervision of company service providers falls within the remit of the MFSA and in fact, the MFSA has a specific function designated with the responsibility for the authorisation as well as the supervision of this sector. The function's main objective is to ensure that licensed company service providers have the appropriate structures and systems in place to service clients adequately whilst at the same time preserving their reputation as well as Malta's reputation, taking into account our international commitments. Persons wishing to provide such services must therefore satisfy fitness and propriety requirements which are assessed at application stage prior to being granted authorisation to carry out the activities of company service providers. Following authorisation, a mixture of tools are utilised with respect to supervision, consisting of both onsite inspections as well as offsite reviews, analyses and assessments, to ensure that the expected standards continue to be adhered to on an ongoing basis.

About The Role

Within this role you will support the operational aspects of the Company Service Providers Supervision Function which is responsible for the review of applications of company service providers, the assessment of key officials requiring approval by the MFSA, as well as the ongoing supervision of the conduct of respective licence holders. Through working closely with a multi-disciplinary team, the role will provide you with exposure to the area of regulation, licensing and supervision, and to grow professionally in a fast-paced environment.

You will be responsible for providing support in any of the following areas:

  • Handling effective and efficient recordkeeping practices of the function;
  • Supporting with the coordination of the internal and external communication needs of the function relating to authorisation and supervision processes and workstreams;
  • Providing support with reviewing and analysing the regular offsite reporting of authorised persons, including annual financial statements, compliance reports and other regulatory returns;
  • Supporting other staff members in the conduct of onsite inspections and other supervisory engagements at authorised company service providers;
  • Supporting the re-engineering and standardization of work projects, including testing;
  • Supporting with the creation or amendment of templates, databases and checklists utilised by the Function;
  • Carrying out research in relation to emerging trends and legal developments;
  • Undertake any other tasks as delegated by senior management in line with the exigencies of the Function.

About You

We are looking for candidates who are eager to join an enthusiastic team with a keen interest in financial services and compliance. Interested candidates should be currently reading for, or in the process of obtaining a qualification at National Qualification Framework Level 6 or better, duly certified by the Malta Qualifications Recognition Information Centre (MQRIC) or a widely recognised professional qualification at a comparable level in Law, Banking & Finance or any other related area.

  • Interest in financial services and willing to broaden knowledge in these areas;
  • Attention to detail and strive for quality and accuracy of the work;
