Location: DAS Superfoods Pvt Ltd, [Plant Location, Ahmedabad/Gujarat]
Experience Required: 5-10 years in preventive maintenance of packaging machinery, preferably in processed cereals, spices, or food manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on PFS (Pouch Forming Sealing) packaging machines, including lubrication, alignment checks, belt replacements, and sensor calibrations to achieve >95% OEE and minimize downtime in cereals packaging lines.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical faults on PFS machines (e.g., formers, sealers, fillers, and cutters) using tools like multimeters, vibration analyzers, and CMMS software, resolving issues within 2-4 hours to support daily production targets.
- Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) for machine breakdowns using 5-Why or Fishbone methods, implementing corrective actions to reduce MTTR (Mean Time To Repair) by 20% quarterly.
- Maintain detailed maintenance logs, PM schedules, and spare parts inventory in Excel/CMMS systems, ensuring 100% compliance with HACCP, BRCGS, FSSC 22000, and NPOP organic standards for cereals processing.
- Collaborate with production teams to execute SMED (Single Minute Exchange of Die) setups during changeovers for different cereal packs (e.g., oats, muesli), achieving <10-minute changeover times.
- Inspect and overhaul ancillary equipment like conveyors, date coders, and nitrogen flush systems integrated with PFS lines, preventing contamination risks in high-moisture cereals.
- Train junior technicians (2-3 per shift) on PFS machine safe operations, lockout-tagout (LOTO) procedures, and basic predictive maintenance using IoT sensors for vibration/temperature monitoring.
- Support new machine installations or upgrades, including PFS line commissioning, FAT/SAT testing, and integration with upstream cereal processing lines.
- Ensure workplace safety by conducting daily risk assessments, PPE compliance, and housekeeping around packaging areas to meet ISO 45001 standards.
- Optimise spare parts procurement and vendor coordination, targeting 15% cost reduction in maintenance expenses without compromising machine reliability.
- Participate in Kaizen events and continuous improvement projects to enhance PFS machine throughput for processed cereals (e.g., 500-1000 pouches/min).
Qualifications & Skills
- Diploma/BE in Mechanical Engineering with 5-10 years hands-on experience in PFS/FFS packaging machines (e.g., Uflex, Bosch, Totani, or similar).
- Expertise in cereals/food packaging maintenance; knowledge of GMP, food contact materials, and allergen control.
- Proficiency in Excel for PM scheduling, AutoCAD for machine layouts, and basic PLC troubleshooting.
