Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Storage Administrator to manage and support enterprise zSeries storage environments. The ideal candidate will ensure reliable, secure, and efficient storage operations, perform capacity planning, and provide 24x7 production support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer and monitor zSeries storage systems (DASD, VTS, DFSMS, DFHSM, DFDSS).
- Manage datasets including VSAM, sequential, PDS, PDSE, and related storage objects.
- Implement and maintain SMS ACS routines and storage allocation policies.
- Perform backup, recovery, and replication to ensure data integrity.
- Troubleshoot storage issues and coordinate with vendors for hardware/software support.
- Plan and implement storage changes, capacity upgrades, and performance optimizations.
- Provide 24x7 on-call support for storage production incidents.
- Work with GDPS/MGM environments for replication and disaster recovery (if applicable).
- Utilize IBM utilities, REXX, SAS, RMM, CA1, IDCAMS for storage management tasks.
- Maintain documentation for storage configurations, procedures, and operational processes.
Required Skills:
- 6–10+ years of Mainframe storage experience.
- Hands-on with IBM DASD, IBM VTS, DFSMS, DFHSM, DFDSS.
- Experience with JCL, REXX, SAS, SMS ACS routines, IDCAMS, IBM RMM, CA1.
- Knowledge of Transparent Cloud Tiering, Safeguarded Copy, MGM 4 Site solutions, and hardware encryption.
- Experience with GDPS/MGM and IBM Spectrum Control is a plus.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
