Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain mainframe-based applications using COBOL and related mainframe tools and utilities.
- Analyze business requirements, translate them into technical specifications, and implement efficient, scalable solutions on the mainframe platform.
- Perform impact analysis, code changes, unit testing, and integration testing for enhancements, defect fixes, and production support activities.
- Optimize existing COBOL programs and mainframe jobs for performance, reliability, and maintainability.
- Collaborate with business analysts, QA, and infrastructure teams to ensure end-to-end delivery of features and releases.
- Provide L3 support for critical production issues, including root-cause analysis and permanent fixes.
- Participate in code reviews, enforce coding standards, and contribute to best practices for mainframe development.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, including design documents, job flows, and support guides.
- Mentor junior team members on mainframe concepts, COBOL coding practices, and troubleshooting techniques.
- Contribute to modernization initiatives, including refactoring legacy code and preparing systems for integration with newer technologies.
