MainePERS is seeking a detail-driven, service-minded Retirement Services Specialist to support accurate, timely benefit processing while helping guide the day-to-day work of the unit.
What You’ll Do
- Support the processing and accuracy of benefit-related work
- Provide general oversight of daily workflow; direct and assign work to pension associates and clerks
- Serve as a collaborative subject matter expert and resource to staff
- Run and analyze reports and queries to ensure payroll and payment deadlines are met with accuracy
- Authorize retirement payments and approve adjustments
- Research and respond to complex member and management inquiries
- Partner with Business Unit and Retirement Services leadership to keep work moving efficiently
- Contribute to building and maintaining a positive, engaged team culture

QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree plus 2 years of responsible administrative experience.
- OR- 8 years of progressively responsible administrative experience which includes:
- 2 years of work experience as a Pension Associate II or higher in the Retirement Services Unit of the Member Services Division of MainePERS.
- OR- Any equivalent combination of relevant education and experience
- Proficient in MS Office suite
- Must be proficient in Excel at the Beginner level
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience which demonstrates interviewing, interpersonal, data gathering, and analytical skills necessary to form the basis for making complex eligibility determinations, claims resolutions and customer service requests; experience making group presentations.
Salary: Begins at $67,787 if annualized with excellent benefits.
