Packaging Technician II At MadTree
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Packaging Technician II works within the Production Department with responsibility for independently operating and troubleshooting packaging equipment while supporting team development and process improvement. COMPENSATION RANGE: $18.50 – $20.75 – $22.85
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Independently operate and troubleshoot canning line equipment including complex setup, advanced troubleshooting, equipment optimization, quality control monitoring, and training Packaging Technician I.
- Independently operate and troubleshoot keg filling operations including advanced maintenance, efficiency optimization, and quality assurance protocols.
- Lead sanitation operations and train others on proper cleaning procedures using all equipment and chemicals safely and effectively.
- Conduct complex equipment and product changeovers with minimal supervision and assist in developing improved procedures.
- Manage inventory control, storage systems, and workflow optimization for maximum efficiency.
- Accurately follow and help develop packaging Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve moderate operational and quality control issues independently. Escalate complex issues to Packaging Lead and/or Head Brewer.
- Perform preventative maintenance and minor equipment repairs under supervision from the Maintenance Department.
- Train and mentor Packaging Technician I team members on equipment operation and safety procedures.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned, including cross-training initiatives, process improvement projects, and supporting other production areas.
- Enthusiastically spends a minimum of 16 hours per year volunteering (paid) for MadTree Impact initiatives.

- 2+ years of professional packaging, manufacturing, or production experience or equivalent education.
IMPORTANT SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Advanced proficiency in the use of packaging equipment, such as: canning line components, keg filling equipment, conveyor systems, palletizing equipment, cleaning and sanitizing chemicals, and powered industrial trucks.
- Maintains a high level of initiative, independence, and productivity in a dynamic and demanding environment.
- Attention to detail, ability to work with minimal supervision while maintaining safety and quality standards, and confidence to speak up and act when safety and/or quality are compromised.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to frequently sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb.
- Ability to frequently talk, hear, and smell.
- Ability to stand for up to 6 hours or more.
- Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 55 pounds and occasionally maneuver, push/slide, rotate and move up to 170 pounds.
- Ability to frequently reach with hands and arms. Use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls.
- Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus.
