Operate, control, and monitor generation resources to meet electric energy demand while maintaining the safety, stability, and reliability of the bulk electric system
Act as the Balancing Authority by exercising independent real-time authority to implement operating actions necessary to ensure reliable bulk power system operations, including directing system actions during emergency conditions
Comply with all applicable North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) Reliability Standards, Midwest Reliability Organization (MRO) requirements, MISO rules, and other regulatory policies, including the authority to shed firm load when required
Manage Company generation assets in the MISO market by responding to dispatch instructions, reserve deployments, Must-Offer requirements, and other market obligations
Monitor and analyze system conditions including electric load, frequency, voltage, Area Control Error (ACE), interconnection flows, weather conditions, and fuel supply constraints
Coordinate Company-owned and jointly owned generating facilities to ensure equitable delivery of generated power and reliable system performance
Direct and coordinate generation operations to ensure the safety of Company personnel, Company equipment, and the general public, including indirect coordination of plant personnel through Operations Supervisors
Respond to system disturbances by analyzing alarms and indicators, initiating corrective actions, preventing escalation, minimizing outages or equipment damage, and notifying appropriate Operations personnel
Anticipate and respond to changing system conditions by adjusting generator output, voltage schedules, reserve requirements, environmental compliance actions, and gas flow coordination consistent with daily nominations
Coordinate scheduled generation outages, record forced outages, maintain operating reserves, ensure tie-line accuracy, and maintain records of joint plant operations
Prepare and maintain operational records, forecasts, schedules, and logs including hourly, daily, and monthly generation and load forecasts and system operation data
Communicate and coordinate with internal Company personnel and external entities including Balancing Authorities, Load-Serving Entities, MISO, transmission providers, joint plant personnel, and regulatory organizations
Complete all required training and continuing education to maintain NERC certification and operational readiness
Provide recommendations to management regarding policies, procedures, and practices to improve system reliability, operational efficiency, and customer service
