About the Department
The Communications and Marketing Intern supports the Clerk’s Office by developing and executing creative, high-impact marketing and communications content. This role is ideal for a student or recent graduate seeking hands-on experience in government communications, public information, graphic design, and digital engagement.
Position Duties
- Design flyers, graphics, e-invitations, and other promotional materials for Clerk’s Office events and initiatives.
- Draft, edit, and distribute press releases, media alerts, and internal/external news stories.
- Maintain and update the Clerk’s Office social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Twitter/X), including scheduling and content creation.
- Assist in developing strategic marketing and outreach campaigns to promote the mission and services of the Clerk’s Office.
- Contribute creative content for print, digital, and social media distribution.
- Take high-quality photos at events, programs, and inside the courthouse for use in marketing materials and social media.
- Assist with filming, editing, and streaming live events, as well as developing advertisements and public service announcements.
- Collaborate on the planning, writing, and management of the office’s monthly e-newsletter.
- Work closely with staff to generate fresh ideas, explore new communications tools, and expand community engagement.
- Provide general office support and perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma or GED with at least one year of office or administrative or equivalent combination of education and experience to provide knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties and responsibilities of the position. Internship may be eligible for College credit.
Additional Requirements:
- Intern will interact with multiple departments and may attend official court proceedings as part of their duties. As such, the intern must possess at least one court-appropriate outfit, including a suit jacket, to maintain professional appearance standards in judicial settings.
Other Qualifications
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and general office equipment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to type a minimum of 30 words per minute.
- Understanding of marketing principles, branding, and digital engagement.
- Experience with Canva, Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and/or HTML is highly preferred.
- Familiarity with social media tools, platforms, and analytics.
- Experience using ChatGPT or other AI content tools is a plus.
- Must demonstrate creativity, attention to detail, and a high level of artistic ability.
- Proven ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
- Reliable, organized, self-motivated, and able to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
