About the Department
The Project Assistant provides onsite evening support for students, faculty, and program operations during evening class sessions. This role ensures a welcoming, safe, and responsive environment by assisting with student services, addressing faculty and program needs, and maintaining smooth program operations for afternoon and evening business hours.
Position Duties
- Support faculty during evening operations with classroom setup, instructional technology, materials distribution, and troubleshooting of minor issues.
- Provide assistance with basic technology and learning systems (Canvas, Lumens, and Colleague) to support student success.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for evening students regarding general program information, attendance procedures, and classroom need.
- Assist students with locating classrooms, accessing materials, and navigating program resources.
- Greet and assist students and visitors, ensuring a welcoming and professional learning environment.
- Refer students to appropriate services (SOS, veterans services, accommodations, etc.) as needed.
- Document and communicate any evening issues, incidents, or supply needs to program leadership.
- Monitor and track student attendance and participation; follow up on absences or concerns as directed by program leadership.
- Support check-in processes for students and visitors.
- Assist recruitment and job placement efforts as directed.
- Assist with special projects, events, or outreach activities as assigned by leadership.
- Uphold college/program policies to ensure safety and compliance.
- Serve as a liaison between evening operations and daytime program staff.
Minimum Qualifications
Associate degree or higher in Business Administration, Education, Information Technology. 1 year or more experience in workforce development, higher education, project management (certification preferred).
Other Qualifications
Prior experience in an educational, training, or customer service environment preferred. Experience providing front-line support to students, faculty, staff in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment. Prior experience assisting with program coordination, attendance tracking, or data reporting is highly desirable.
