Job Purpose

The Machine Sales Engineer will be responsible for generating business and driving sales of pharmaceutical machinery and complete equipment solutions. The role involves identifying customer requirements, promoting capital equipment, conducting technical and commercial discussions, preparing offers, negotiating deals, and ensuring order conversion while building long-term customer relationships.

Key Responsibilities


Sales & Business Development

  • Identify and develop new business opportunities for pharmaceutical machinery and equipment.
  • Visit prospective and existing customers to generate inquiries and leads for new machines.
  • Promote and present the company’s pharmaceutical machinery product portfolio to customers.
  • Understand customer manufacturing processes, capacity requirements, and technical needs.
  • Recommend suitable machinery and solutions based on application and customer requirements.
  • Prepare and submit technical and commercial quotations aligned with customer needs.
  • Follow up on submitted offers and negotiate terms to convert inquiries into orders.
  • Achieve assigned sales targets for capital equipment and machinery.


Commercial & Coordination

  • Coordinate with internal teams (engineering, service, production, projects, and finance) for proposal preparation and order execution.
  • Handle commercial discussions, negotiations, and finalization of orders as per company policies.
  • Ensure timely receipt of purchase orders and advance payments from customers.
  • Maintain accurate order documentation, contracts, and customer communication.


Pre-Sales & After-Sales Support

  • Support pre-sales activities including machine selection, layout discussions, and technical clarifications.
  • Act as a point of contact during project execution for coordination between customer and internal teams.
  • Support machine installation, commissioning coordination, and handover to customers as required.
  • Maintain strong customer relationships to generate repeat business and future opportunities.


Reporting & Documentation

  • Maintain detailed records of customer visits, inquiries, proposals, orders, and negotiations.
  • Update sales pipeline, forecasts, and customer data in the CRM / ERP system.
  • Submit regular sales reports, market feedback, and competitor insights to the reporting manager.


Educational Qualification

  • BE / BTech / Diploma – Engineering (Mandatory)


Experience Requirements

  • 2 to 4 years of experience in:
  • Field sales of pharmaceutical machinery or capital equipment
  • Industrial machinery or process equipment sales
  • Technical sales or project-based machinery sales
  • Prior experience in the pharmaceutical machinery industry is highly preferred.


Key Skills & Competencies

  • Strong technical understanding of pharmaceutical machinery and manufacturing processes
  • Ability to understand machine specifications, layouts, P&IDs, and technical drawings
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and customer-handling skills
  • Strong negotiation and closing skills
  • Target-driven and result-oriented mindset
  • Willingness to travel extensively for customer visits
  • Working knowledge of ERP / CRM systems

  • Experience in capital equipment or turnkey project sales
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and solution-oriented approach
  • Ability to work independently and manage long sales cycles
