The Director of Business Development will lead the growth of Tower Sealant's commercial product lines within the construction and building supply channel. This role owns the full sales, marketing, customer, and product development strategy for this emerging segment of Tower's business from initial market analysis through execution and ongoing performance management. The Director will work cross-functionally with the Paint Channel Sales Directors, the Logistics Director, the VP of Chemical Technology, and the VP of Sales & Marketing to gather and interpret market data, develop targeted marketing campaigns, and deploy effective field tactics to drive channel penetration and revenue growth.
Responsibilities:
- Identify key distributors and develop the associated product sell-through strategy for each.
- Engage customers directly to understand their needs and translate those insights into programs and solutions.
- Communicate Tower's value proposition to prospective customers and develop sales tools that support the commercial product selling process.
- Collaborate with the VP of Sales & Marketing to establish new marketing programs, collateral, and product initiatives.
- Serve as the category expert, deeply understanding customers, how they buy, their decision criteria, and the competitive landscape.
- Develop product positioning and messaging that clearly differentiates Tower's offerings in the market.
- Continuously identify opportunities to grow market share across all product lines.
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders throughout the distribution network.
- Develop and manage marketing programs that drive product demand and support the sales process.
- Organize and execute new product launches, coordinating cross-functional teams through each stage of implementation.
- Provide on-site product-knowledge training to distributor store associates, sales teams, and end users on commercial sealants and related programs.
- Educate manufacturer's rep teams and customer service staff on new and existing products, promotional activities, competitive positioning, and presentation strategies.
- Manage manufacturer's rep schedules and represent Tower at company and customer trade shows.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum of 10 years of related experience in roofing, lumber, commercial waterproofing, or a related construction building supply sector
- Demonstrated ability to develop and execute sales and marketing strategies
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret sales performance data and market trends
- Ability to read and interpret financial statements and reports
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Proven ability to work cross-functionally with internal teams, customers, and external partners
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Proactive self-starter with a hands-on approach and strong sense of ownership
- Team player with a flexible attitude and a desire to grow professionally within the organization
Preferred Qualifications:
- University degree in Marketing, Business, or a related field
- Experience supporting or managing manufacturer's rep agencies
- Familiarity with product launch processes and demand generation programs
- Prior experience in a Director-level or senior sales/marketing leadership role
