Network Security Intern (Entry Level)
Job Overview
The Network Security Intern will support our IT Security team manage and secure our organization's network infrastructure. This role offers practical experience in cybersecurity, network administration, vulnerability assessments, and security monitoring. The intern will gain exposure to best practices and tools essential for maintaining a secure network environment.
Responsibilities
* Assist in monitoring network security logs and alerts, identifying unusual or suspicious activity.
* Support vulnerability scanning and assessments, documenting findings and recommendations.
* Participate in security audits, including penetration testing and compliance assessments.
* Contribute to configuring, maintaining, and managing security tools and software.
* Collaborate with team members on incident response activities and documentation.
* Help in developing and updating security policies, procedures, and documentation.
* Provide general support for network security administration tasks.
Qualifications
Required:
* Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or a related field.
* Basic understanding of network concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
* Familiarity with cybersecurity principles and common vulnerabilities.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
Preferred:
* Experience with cybersecurity tools (firewalls, antivirus, SIEM solutions).
* Basic knowledge of scripting languages (Python, Bash).
* Any cybersecurity or IT certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security+, Network+) are beneficial.
