Position Duties

Loudoun County's Department of Parks, Recreation, and Community Services is seeking qualified candidates for a full-time Childcare Supervisor position. Under the overall supervision of the appointed supervisor, oversees a childcare program (CASA, YAS, or Daycare) for the County at designated location(s). This role, depending on the assignment, manages a recreational program for children; organizes and executes daily activities; reaches out to special guests; prepares budgets; orders necessary supplies; participates in and leads required meetings; supervises, trains, and mentors assigned staff; collaborates with children, school personnel, and parents; conducts safety inspections; arranges the classroom and cubbies; directs substitutes; and maintains essential documentation. For positions classified as "Rovers," duties may be performed at any assigned location, which may change frequently.

We are currently hiring for the following location(s):
• Dulles South Recreation & Community Center, South Riding, VA

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Ensures that the standards for state childcare licensing are adhered to as program activities and objectives are executed; oversees staff in the fulfillment of their duties.
• Carries out and submits daily site safety evaluations; ensures that employees secure and retain health and safety certifications; and arranges necessary training.
• Creates, designs, develops, and executes programs for children; guarantees that the programs adhere to the curriculum and fulfill the children's needs.
• Engages in communication with parents, staff, and school personnel at the site.
• Oversees the behaviors, communication, and participation of children in program activities; maintains the required staff-to-student ratios; and complies with established policies and procedures regarding supervision, interactions, and disciplinary matters.
• May carry out additional critical job responsibilities pertinent to the specific role and departmental assignment.

This position is eligible for a $3,000 hiring bonus in accordance with the County’s Hiring and Retention Bonus Program.

Hiring salary is commensurate with experience.



Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a child-related field such as Elementary Education, Nursing, or Recreation; one (1) year of program experience supervising children or equivalent combination of education and experience.
 
Master’s degree preferred in a related field and six (6) months of program experience supervising children.


Other Qualifications

Must undergo criminal, and fingerprinting background checks. First Aid (Infant through Adult)/CPR certifications prior to hire or within 30 days of hire. Pass TB screening prior to hire and every two years thereafter. Must complete a sworn disclosure statement or affirmation disclosing any criminal convictions or pending criminal charges upon hire and every (5) years thereafter.
