About the role

At Lotto NZ, we're believers in inspiring Kiwis to dream big. So, working with us means doing meaningful mahi that benefits good causes across Aotearoa. All while having a fun time along the way. Everything we do comes back to making sure Kiwis can play in a way that's healthy and fun, whilst returning 100% of our profits back into our communities around Aotearoa. Your day-to-day: As a Platform Engineer, you'll be at the heart of ensuring the availability, performance, and enhancement of our production environments. Your day will involve managing and improving Lotto NZ platforms, both on-premises and in the cloud. You'll implement infrastructure as code and automate tasks to enhance efficiency. Monitoring system performance and ensuring all environments are up-to-date with the right versions will be key responsibilities. You'll work closely with the Environment team, Development, testing, and release capabilities, as well as external partners to ensure our environments are fit for purpose and highly available. You'll support Lotto NZ's public cloud tenancies, providing troubleshooting and developing documented procedures and operational run books for cloud systems. Maintaining and improving cloud system monitoring capabilities, supporting identity and access management policies, and adhering to Lotto NZ security standards will be crucial. Incident management and continuous delivery will be significant aspects of your role. You'll ensure all incidents are managed and escalated as per Lotto NZ's incident management process, understanding the impacts on systems, people, and processes. You'll also provide thought leadership in implementing and supporting dev/ops methodologies using modern toolsets and processes. By supporting automation throughout the SDLC, you'll improve the efficiency of build, test, and deployment activities. Collaboration is essential in this role. You'll work with Platform Engineers, development, and QA teams to ensure alignment of processes and toolsets, facilitating knowledge sharing across teams. Your proactive approach will drive continuous improvement, as you'll monitor, manage, and patch all environments, using appropriate tools and processes to enhance availability, management processes, and the speed of releases. In addition to your technical responsibilities, you'll document Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and ensure they are regularly reviewed and updated to reflect best practices. You'll ensure BCP and DR procedures are in place and accurately reflect the current environment, incorporating new services or feature releases proactively. Your role will be dynamic and multifaceted, involving a mix of technical responsibilities, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
