COORDINATOR, CAREER AND TECHNICAL EDUCATION (CTE)

PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develops, coordinates, conducts, and evaluates staff development programs for CTE and Perkins regarding mandates, goals, and strategies as outlined in each of the programs
Provides direction and support to CTE Perkins central office staff and to school-based CTE Perkins advisers
Develops and monitors budget allocations and expenditures for all Perkins funds with input from the CTE advisers
Coordinates and serves as a consultant to schools and advisers in developing Career Pathways
Provides support to advisers in developing strategies to assist schools in the improvement of the academic, career, and technical skills of students
Coordinates the development of and completes the LAUSD Local Perkins Application submitted annually to the Program Grant Management System for California Department of Education and to the LAUSD Board of Education
Maintains records and statistical information for state and District reports and provides information as requested by auditors.
Assists schools with the CTE components of the Federal Program Monitoring
Serves as a resource person to District offices and schools in the area of Career and Technical Education

CONTINUE - PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Cultivates and develops partnerships among schools, post-secondary institutions, employers, labor organizations, and parents.
Provides support, resources, and assistance to education/business partnerships
Conducts regular visits to schools to support the programs in the school plan and to monitor, support, and assess CTE Perkins Plan implementation
Provides updates and represents the secondary CTE unit at the Career Technical Education Advisory Committee meetings
Performs other duties as assigned

SALARY:

41G, (School Support Administrator, 0515) – E Basis ($126,504 – $157,802) – 234 paid days

In the case of an annualized employee who is changing basis during the year, this change may result in an annualized “settlement” (i.e., the process by which the District resolves an under or overpayment).
For employees who change basis during the school year, this basis change may prevent them from earning a full year of service credit.
Selected individual may be subject to displacement due to norm allocation and seniority-based RIF provisions or due to budget limitations.
This position is deemed certificated under Education Code Section 44065, but may not qualify for "creditable service" under Education Code Section 22119.5 for CalSTRS benefits. However, if the candidate chosen for the position is already a CalSTRS member, he/she can fill out an election form to remain in CalSTRS and thereby obtain CalSTRS credit for this service.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

At least eight (8) years of successful, full-time public school service in a certificated position(s), with no fewer than two (2) years of which must have been in a leadership position(s) (e.g. coordinator, instructional coach, dean)
A valid California Administrative Services Credential
An earned master’s degree or advanced degree of at least equivalent standard conferred by a regionally-accredited college or university
Completion of required Multicultural Education and Master Plan coursework*

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

In-depth knowledge of the Model Curriculum Career Technical Education standards and their alignment to Common Core State Standards
At least five years of experience working with the Perkins Grant
Knowledge of the California Department of Education Perkins Grant Management System and the Perkins Data System
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with administrative staff, instructional staff, and support staff
Strong computer skills including Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook

Developing or supporting administrators in developing robust secondary school master schedules that balance student choice, credit recovery, and CTE pathway completion
Navigating state and federal systems to manage grant reporting and Federal Program Monitoring (FPM) for 5+ schools, including data management, evidence collection, and audit resolution
Developing centralized funding models that utilize braided funds to support multiple CTE programs at multiple school sites, including overseeing the full application, screening, and award process.
