Staff Engineer

Loop is building the enterprise co-pilot for restaurants, starting with delivery. Over the last 3 years, delivery & digital ordering grew 10x into a major source of restaurant revenue, throwing up fundamental operational and financial challenges. With Loop, restaurants can view their P&L in real time, automate closing books, improve order accuracy, diagnose poor performance and empower their teams with feedback.

About Founders:

Sundar is an IITM 2017 CS Graduate. Previously, he built Traffic Models, Driver positioning algos that power ETAs for Uber, was the first Uber US hire from India, led teams that built the RecSys for Moj(Indian equivalent of TikTok with >100M users), represented India in ACM ICPC World Finals and was the second highest rated TopCoder in India. 

Anand is a Bits Pilani 2012 CS Graduate. Previously, he has worn hats including building the first supply chain management of Flipkart in 2012 and being in the first 100 eng, building the first version of running a FinTech startup for 1.5 years, managing large teams eng at Uber and building the pickup experience for Uber. He also runs a successful cloud kitchen in Hyderabad, giving us a peek into the space.

We believe that the collaborative spirit among our peers is the lifeblood of our startup. As a Staff Backend Engineer, you will be a key contributor to our technical vision and execution. You’ll own the design, architecture, and development of core backend systems that are foundational to our product. This role offers the unique opportunity to shape the engineering culture, mentor a growing team, and influence product direction from the ground up.

What We're Seeking:

Must-Have:

• 7+ years of relevant professional full-time experience building backend systems, ideally in fast-paced environments.
• Proactive self-starter capable of independently solving problems.
• Ability to zoom out and think big picture in terms of architecture while simultaneously being able to get to granular details - seamlessly translating big picture to smaller details.    
• Ability to solve complex technical problems and deliver elegant solutions
• Proven track record of technical leadership and mentoring engineers.
• Comfortable with ambiguity, quick decision-making, and wearing multiple hats.
• Hunger to build things and get things done



Nice-to-Have:

• Some exposure to FrontEnd (React, basic familiarity with a JS library + willingness to learn)
• Some Big-Tech experience to know how systems are built in the ideal end state 
• Some early stage experience to know which parts of the end state matter and which ones can be compromised. (Or at least a hunger to ship more after slow moving Big Tech roles and curiosity to figure this out over time)
