JOB DESCRIPTION
David Weekley Homes is seeking a Business Intelligence Engineer to help build and scale our enterprise data platform. This role will work closely with our U.S.-based Data Team to transform raw operational data into trusted, analytics-ready datasets, dashboards, semantic models, and data products that support decision-making across the homebuilding lifecycle.
The BI Engineer will work across Power BI, Snowflake, and dbt to develop scalable data models, optimize data pipelines, and deliver business-ready analytics solutions. This role sits at the intersection of business intelligence and data engineering, helping establish enterprise standards for reporting, governance, and self-service analytics.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Business Intelligence & Reporting
· Develop and maintain Power BI semantic models, datasets, dashboards, and reports.
· Partner with Data Team and business stakeholders to understand reporting and analytical requirements.
· Translate business questions into scalable data solutions and reusable data products.
· Support enterprise KPI standardization and metric governance initiatives.
Data Integration & Platform Development
· Support data validation, reconciliation, monitoring, and troubleshooting activities.
· Collaborate with Data Engineers, Analytics Engineers, Data Analysts, and external partners to ensure reliable and maintainable data pipelines.
· Assist with developing and maintaining ELT transformations and data processing workflows.
· Assist in onboarding new data sources into the enterprise data platform.
Data Quality & Governance
· Implement data quality checks, testing, and monitoring processes.
· Investigate and resolve data discrepancies and reporting issues.
· Contribute to metadata management, documentation, and data lineage efforts.
· Promote consistent business definitions and enterprise reporting standards.
Analytics Engineering & Data Modeling
· Develop and maintain analytics-ready data models within Power BI and Snowflake.
· Build and support dbt models, transformations, testing, and documentation.
· Design dimensional models, star schemas, and semantic layers that support enterprise reporting and analytics.
· Optimize Power BI and Snowflake performance to improve scalability, usability, and cost efficiency.
Continuous Improvement
· Identify opportunities to automate manual reporting and data preparation activities.
· Recommend improvements to platform performance, usability, and governance.
· Stay current on emerging capabilities within Power BI, Snowflake, dbt, and modern analytics platforms.
REQUIRED SKILLS
· 3–7 years of experience in business intelligence, analytics engineering, data engineering, or related disciplines.
· Expertise in building Power BI semantic models, reports, and dashboards.
· Strong SQL development experience.
· Hands-on experience with Snowflake or a comparable cloud data warehouse.
· Experience developing and maintaining dbt models.
· Strong understanding of dimensional modeling, star schemas, and data warehousing concepts.
· Experience troubleshooting data quality, performance, and reporting issues.
· Familiarity with source control tools such as Git and Azure DevOps.
· Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
Preferred Skills
· Experience with Azure-based data platforms.
· Experience with Python for data analysis or automation.
· Experience supporting enterprise reporting environments with hundreds of users.
· Familiarity with CI/CD practices for analytics development.
· Experience working with data governance, lineage, and documentation processes.
· Knowledge of construction, real estate, manufacturing, or operational analytics environments.
