Job Summary: The Event Assistant assists with the planning of on-site and off-site events. Initiates event proposals and contracts. Prepares the banquet event orders. Resolves service problems. Ensures customer expectations are met and that events run smoothly, efficiently, and on time. Performs other duties as needed.
The Office of Student Activities enhances the university experience by promoting student engagement, leadership development, and campus community outside the classroom. The office supports student organizations, coordinates campus events and programs, and provides advising and mentorship to student leaders. Through inclusive initiatives and collaborative partnerships, Student Activities fosters connection, belonging, and personal growth while supporting the institution’s mission and values.
Education and Experience: High School Diploma or GED required. Associate's Degree preferred. Minimum one year of relevant experience required.
Knowledge and Skills: Able to read; write legibly; speak in English with professional quality; use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint). Operate/troubleshoot basic office equipment required for the position; Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; collaborate and accept direction. Able to adapt to current situations and solve problems through conflict management. Able to communicate effectively on the telephone; think critically; manage multiple assignments effectively; organize and prioritize workload; work well under pressure; problem solve; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail; work independently with minimal supervision. Able to distinguish colors as necessary; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone, and identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the workplace; see adequately
Licensures and Certifications: Valid Driver's License required at time of hire.
