Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role for a Logistics Manager located in Mumbai. In this role, you will oversee and manage supply chain and logistics operations to ensure the seamless execution of projects. Responsibilities include inventory management, procurement, coordination with suppliers, managing transportation and deliveries, and ensuring customer satisfaction. The role requires collaboration with multiple teams to optimize efficiency and support operational goals.
Key Responsibilities
📦 Logistics & Dispatch Management
- Plan and execute dispatch of materials to multiple project locations across India in a cost-efficient manner
- Optimize shipment planning to reduce freight costs (consolidation, route planning, mode selection)
- Ensure timely pickup, transit, and delivery while minimizing expedited shipping expenses
- Monitor shipment status and proactively resolve delays to avoid penalty costs and re-dispatch
🚛 Vendor & Transporter Management
- Identify and onboard cost-competitive transport vendors across regions
- Negotiate freight rates and long-term contracts to achieve cost savings
- Develop a reliable vendor pool to reduce dependence on high-cost emergency transporters
- Periodically review vendor performance with focus on cost efficiency and service quality
📊 Planning & Coordination
- Align dispatch schedules with project timelines to avoid last-minute premium logistics costs
- Coordinate with internal teams to ensure materials are ready, preventing storage and idle transport charges
- Plan reverse logistics efficiently to minimize return freight expenses
- Optimize last-mile delivery planning to reduce multiple trips and partial loads
📋 Documentation & Compliance
- Ensure accurate documentation to prevent penalties, delays, and demurrage charges
- Track Proof of Delivery (POD) promptly to enable timely billing and payment cycles
- Maintain compliance to avoid legal fines, detention charges, or shipment holds
📉 Cost Control & Optimization
- Continuously identify opportunities to reduce logistics costs without impacting service levels
- Implement load optimization, route planning, and mode optimization strategies
- Monitor logistics spend against budgets and recommend corrective actions
- Analyze cost data to drive ongoing efficiency improvements
🏭 Inventory & Warehouse Coordination
- Coordinate dispatch planning to minimize storage time and warehousing costs
- Optimize stock movement to reduce handling and re-packing expenses
- Track damaged or lost shipments and ensure timely claims recovery
- Improve packaging methods to reduce transit damage and replacement costs
