The Opportunity
As a Local Product Manager, you are responsible for end‑to‑end lifecycle management of assigned High Voltage Switchgear products (GIS / DTB / PASS) for the Indian market, ensuring market competitiveness, compliance, profitability, and operational excellence. The role acts as a key interface between Market, R&D, Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and Global Product Management, translating market requirements into executable product actions while safeguarding Hitachi Energy standards, safety, and integrity.
How You’ll Make An Impact
- Own assigned HV switchgear products throughout their complete lifecycle: introduction, growth, sustaining, and phase‑out.
- Drive product localization, variant management, and sustaining engineering priorities in line with India market needs.
- Ensure products continuously deliver customer value, compliance, and target profitability.
- Collect, analyze, and prioritize market requirements and deviations from Sales & Tendering; EPCs, Utilities, and End Customers; Manufacturing, Quality, and Service teams
- Convert Voice of Customer (VoC) and market insights into Product improvement actions; Variant / rating extensions; Localization or new development proposals
- Support development and execution of local product strategy and roadmap, aligned with Global Product Group direction.
- Perform product gap analysis vs. competition, specifications, standards, and customer expectations.
- Prepare or contribute to business cases for New developments; Localization initiatives; Cost‑reduction or redesign projects
- Support pricing strategy for assigned products in coordination with sales and global pricing guidelines.
- Track product cost structures, margins, and value engineering opportunities.
- Drive and support cost‑reduction and localization initiatives to meet target cost and margin objectives.
- Monitor competitive landscape (product features, pricing, technology position). Coordinate and manage Type testing strategy and deviations; Test standards, lab selection, and parameter management
- Support technical risk reviews and ensure compliance with IEC / IEEE standards; Local regulatory and statutory requirements
- Act as the local product focal point for assigned HV switchgear products.
- Collaborate closely with Engineering & R&D; Manufacturing & Supply Chain; Quality, Service & Project teams; Sales, Tendering & Marketing
- Interface with Global Product Management to align local needs with global roadmap and governance.
- Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your background
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (mandatory) / master’s degree or specialization in High Voltage / Power Systems preferred
- Typically, 12–15 years of experience in High Voltage Switchgear (AIS / GIS / Circuit Breakers), Product Management, Application Engineering, R&D, or Technical Sales
- Strong exposure to: Utilities, EPCs, and industrial customers. HV standards, testing, and manufacturing processes
- Deep technical understanding of HV switchgear technologies
- Strong market orientation with structured analytical thinking. Commercial and cost awareness
- Ability to independently drive product topics with limited supervision
- Effective cross‑functional collaboration and stakeholder management
- Direct influence on market success, compliance, and profitability of PGHV products in India
- Key contributor to localization, cost competitiveness, and customer satisfaction
- Recognized subject‑matter expert at local level, feeding into global product strategies
- Proficiency in both spoken & written English language is required
