RESIDENCY– Candidates must have been legal residents of the following jurisdiction(s) for at least four months immediately preceding the date of the application:
The works involves responsibility for operating laundry machinery and appliances. In addition to operating laundry machinery, the duties require familiarity with the use of laundry materials and equipment. Supervision of others is not a responsibility of this class. The work is performed according to established procedures and performed under the direction of an assigned supervisor. A Laundry Worker does related work as assigned.
Position Duties
- Sorts articles delivered for laundering;
- Operates washer and dryer in the laundering of clothing, etc.;
- Operates a clothing labeler to apply resident labels to clothing;
- Folds or hangs clean laundry, sorts, and returns laundered items to source;
- Reports maintenance needs in accordance with established procedures; and
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, SKILLS AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS: Working knowledge of laundry methods and operation; working knowledge of the use of common laundry cleaning appliances and materials; skill in the performance of simple laundry tasks; ability to understand and follow simple oral and written directions; ability to bend, reach, and lift; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.

Other Qualifications
Must be able to lift: 21 – 50 pounds occasionally, 11 – 20 pounds frequently, 0 – 10 pounds continuously.
