About the Role:
Saga Legal is looking to engage an Advocate for secondment at the office of one of its clients. The selected candidate will work closely with the client’s Industrial Relations and Human Resources teams and will assist in handling employee relations matters, disciplinary proceedings, and labour law compliance. The role requires a legal professional with strong drafting abilities and a sound understanding of both the existing labour laws and the newly introduced labour codes.
Key Responsibilities:
i. Draft, review, and vet employee-related communications and legal documents, including show cause notices, charge sheets, warning letters, disciplinary communications, and internal legal correspondence.
ii. Coordinate with the Human Resources team and other internal departments for the purpose of obtaining relevant documents, records, and factual inputs required for employee-related matters and disciplinary proceedings.
iii. Assist in conducting domestic inquiries, including preparation and review of inquiry documentation, and examination of records.
iv. Provide legal opinions and advisory support on matters relating to employee misconduct, disciplinary proceedings, and industrial relations issues.
v. Ensure that all disciplinary actions and documentation are undertaken in compliance with applicable labour laws, company policies, and principles of natural justice.
Eligibility / Qualifications:
i. Advocate enrolled with the Bar Council of India.
ii. Minimum 4+ years of post-qualification experience in labour and employment laws and industrial relations matters.
iii. Sound understanding of employee disciplinary procedures, domestic inquiries, and applicable labour laws.
