Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role for a Linux System Administrator (Team Lead) based in Bengaluru. The Linux System Administrator will be responsible for managing and maintaining Linux-based systems, ensuring high availability, performance, and security. Daily tasks include system administration, troubleshooting issues, providing technical support, and proactively enhancing the resilience of IT infrastructure. The role will also involve monitoring and implementing network security measures to safeguard infrastructure and data.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage, configure, and maintain Linux servers in physical and virtual environments.
- Perform system updates, security patching, and kernel upgrades as per standards.
- Ensure optimal server performance and resource utilization through tuning and capacity planning.
- Maintain defined SLAs and uptime targets across systems and services.
- Administer user accounts, access controls, privileges, and authentication mechanisms.
- Monitor server uptime, availability, performance, and capacity using enterprise monitoring tools.
- Proactively monitor server health and take preventive actions.
- Fine-tune alert thresholds to minimize false positives.
- Respond to alerts and incidents within defined SLAs and maintain monitoring dashboards.
- Manage and support EMC storage solutions, including:
- SAN (Fibre Channel / iSCSI) Perform LUN provisioning, zoning, masking, and storage mappings.
- Mount, configure, and manage SAN/NAS/NFS file systems on Linux servers.
- Monitor storage performance, capacity, and availability.
- Support backup, restore, and disaster recovery activities related to storage.
- Troubleshoot storage-related performance and connectivity issues.
Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with Linux OS (RHEL, Oracle Linux, CentOS, Ubuntu).
- Experience managing EMC storage platforms.
- Solid understanding of SAN, NAS, and NFS protocols.
- Experience with monitoring tools (Nagios, Zabbix, Prometheus, etc.).
- Familiarity with virtualization and cloud environments.
- Strong troubleshooting and documentation skills.
