About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Linux Administrator to join our dynamic team at Tata Consultancy Services. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and maintaining Linux-based systems across multiple client environments, ensuring optimal performance, security, and availability. This role requires in-depth technical expertise in various Linux distributions such as SUSE and RedHat, along with strong networking skills. The Linux Administrator will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot issues, implement new solutions, and support the ongoing stability of our IT infrastructure. This position offers an excellent opportunity to work on diverse projects, utilize cutting-edge technologies, and contribute to the digital transformation initiatives of our esteemed clients across Pan India.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 8 years of proven experience as a Linux or Cloud Administrator.
- Deep understanding of Linux operating systems, specifically SUSE and RedHat distributions.
- Hands-on experience with Linux-based networking, including protocols such as DNS, HTTP, LDAP, SMTP, and SNMP.
- Proficiency in managing server hardware and software, including installation, configuration, and maintenance.
- Strong knowledge of server performance tuning, troubleshooting, and issue resolution.
- Experience with virtualization and cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP.
- Familiarity with storage and filesystem management, backup, and recovery processes.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain Linux server hardware and software systems to ensure high availability and performance.
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement necessary improvements to optimize efficiency.
- Manage and support network services such as DNS, FTP, Samba, LDAP, NFS, DHCP, and email services.
- Implement and manage security measures including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and VPN clients to safeguard infrastructure.
- Perform routine backups, disaster recovery, and system restore activities to ensure data integrity and availability.
- Engage in continuous testing and deployment of new Linux versions and applications to keep systems up-to-date.
- Collaborate with users and teams to resolve account and system-related issues promptly.
- Maintain documentation related to system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
- Participate in capacity planning, performance tuning, and system upgrades to meet evolving business needs.
- Stay updated with the latest industry trends, security vulnerabilities, and best practices to enhance system security and performance.
