About The Role
We are currently seeking a skilled Linux Administrator to join our dynamic team at Tata Consultancy Services. This role is pivotal in managing and maintaining our Linux-based infrastructure across multiple client environments. The ideal candidate will have a comprehensive understanding of Linux systems, networking, and cloud technologies, ensuring optimal performance, security, and reliability of our server environments. As a Linux Administrator, you will be responsible for installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and upgrading Linux servers, along with implementing best practices for system security and efficiency. This position offers an excellent opportunity to work on diverse projects, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and contribute to the digital transformation initiatives of our clients across Pan India.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 8 years of proven experience as a Linux/Cloud Administrator, with strong expertise in Linux distributions such as SUSE and RedHat.
- Deep knowledge of Linux boot processes, performance troubleshooting, and system tuning.
- Extensive experience with networking protocols including DNS, HTTP, LDAP, SMTP, SNMP, and related tools.
- Hands-on experience with Linux-based VPN clients, firewalls, intrusion detection systems, filesystems, and authentication mechanisms.
- Proficiency in diagnostic tools such as traceroute, tcpdump, tracepath, netcat, ifconfig, nmap, netstat, ethtool, and RAID configurations.
- Solid understanding of DNS, FTP, Samba, LDAP, NFS, NTP, DHCP, email systems, and storage management.
- Experience with backup and recovery strategies for Linux systems.
- Knowledge of cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP, with the ability to manage cloud-based Linux environments.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain Linux server hardware and software, ensuring optimal performance and security.
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement necessary improvements to ensure high availability and reliability.
- Manage server performance, capacity planning, and resource allocation to meet organizational needs.
- Implement and manage security protocols, firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection systems to safeguard infrastructure.
- Perform regular system updates, patches, and upgrades to keep systems current with the latest technology standards.
- Coordinate with users and support teams to resolve account, system, and network issues promptly.
- Conduct routine backups, disaster recovery tests, and restore operations to ensure data integrity.
- Engage in continuous testing of new Linux versions and applications, evaluating their compatibility and performance.
- Manage storage solutions and filesystems, including RAID configurations and storage virtualization.
- Collaborate with cloud teams to deploy, manage, and optimize Linux environments in cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP.
- Document system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps for future reference and compliance.
