Job Role: Librarian

Location: Sarjapura, Bangalore

Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the school library, including circulation, shelving, and inventory management.
  • Develop and maintain the library collection by selecting, acquiring, and cataloging new materials following the school's curriculum and educational objectives.
  • Assist students and faculty in locating and accessing information resources, both print and digital, to support research and coursework.
  • Provide guidance and instruction to students in library skills, information literacy, and research methods.
  • Collaborate with teachers to integrate library resources and services into the curriculum, supporting project-based learning and interdisciplinary instruction.
  • Promote reading and literacy initiatives through book displays, author visits, and other engaging activities to encourage a lifelong love of learning.
  • Stay current with trends in library science, educational technology, and children's literature to enhance library services and programs.
  • Maintain a welcoming and inclusive environment in the library that fosters intellectual curiosity, critical thinking, and respect for diverse perspectives.
  • Develop and implement library policies and procedures to ensure the effective and efficient operation of the library.
  • Participate in professional development activities and professional organizations to stay informed about best practices and emerging trends in librarianship.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Library Science, Information Science, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • Previous experience working in a school library or educational setting is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of library cataloging systems, classification schemes, and information retrieval tools.
  • Familiarity with educational technology tools and digital resources for libraries.
