Role Description The Librarian will manage the school library’s daily operations, including organizing and maintaining collections, cataloging new materials, and ensuring accurate records. Responsibilities include assisting students and staff in locating resources, guiding them in research and reference work, and promoting effective use of library services and digital tools. The Librarian will curate age-appropriate and curriculum-aligned materials, support reading and literacy programs, and conduct orientation or instructional sessions on information literacy. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Bengaluru, requiring regular collaboration with teachers, academic coordinators, and administrative staff to support the school’s educational objectives.
Qualifications
- Strong proficiency in library services and library management to oversee daily operations and support diverse user needs.
- Knowledge of library science and metadata to catalog, classify, and organize physical and digital resources effectively.
- Experience in library instruction to guide students and staff in research skills, information literacy, and responsible resource use.
- Relevant academic qualification such as a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Library Science or Information Science.
- Familiarity with library management software and digital resource platforms.
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in an educational setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a learner-centered and inclusive approach.
- Prior experience in a school or academic library environment is an advantage.
