PROFILE OF A LIBERTY HILL ISD EDUCATOR

PRIMARY PURPOSE
Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the core academic subject
area assigned to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social
growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.
This position includes responsibility for supporting Emergent Bilingual students and facilitating
campus LPAC processes to ensure appropriate services and compliance with state and federal
requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Certification
● Bachelor’s degree from accredited college or university
● Valid Texas Teacher Certificate in English Language Arts and Reading appropriate for grade
level assignment
● ESL Certification required
Experience
● Experience working with Emergent Bilingual students preferred
● Experience with LPAC processes and documentation preferred
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
● Knowledge of second language acquisition and effective instructional strategies for
Emergent Bilingual students
● Knowledge of ELPS, TELPAS, and state requirements for Emergent Bilingual programs

● Knowledge of LPAC processes, including identification, placement, accommodations, and
exit criteria
● Ability to support the implementation of sheltered instruction and support language
development in content-area classrooms
● Ability to interpret and apply student language proficiency data to inform instruction and
program decisions
● Ability to ensure accurate documentation and compliance with LPAC requirements
● Ability to collaborate with teachers and staff to support Emergent Bilingual student success
● Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Instruction
● Collaborate with staff to establish instructional goals, objectives, and methods per District
requirements
● Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill LHISD requirements, including evidence of
preparation
● Align subject matter presentation with Texas Education Agency guidelines, board policies,
and administrative regulations
● Prepare differentiated lessons with appropriate instructional strategies, activities, materials,
and technology
● Incorporate language development strategies and ELPS-aligned supports to meet the
needs of Emergent Bilingual students
● Conduct assessments of student progress to inform instructional activities
● Modify curriculum for special education students as per IEP guidelines
● Use technology to enhance teaching and learning
● Assist students with study methods and habits improvement
● Provide guidance for students performing below grade level
Student Management
● Manage student behavior according to the Student Code of Conduct and student
handbook
● Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials,
and facilities
● Supervise students in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working day
● Maintain a positive and orderly classroom environment conducive to learning

Communication
● Maintain clear communication with district personnel, students, and parents through
available technology.
● Conduct conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers.
● Communicate with parents and staff regarding student progress, language development,
and program services as applicable
Administration
● Support campus/department improvement plans and resolve parent/student issues
promptly.
● Report student progress as per guidelines and maintain classroom standards.
● Assist in monitoring and creating a safe campus environment.
● Select books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
● Compile and submit required reports and documents.
● Attend professional development activities and faculty meetings.
● Administer state-mandated testing and maintain professional relationships.
● Maintain accurate student records and documentation related to Emergent Bilingual
services and LPAC requirements
● Ensure implementation of instructional accommodations and program services as
determined by LPAC
● Comply with all relevant policies and perform assigned duties.
● Regular attendance is required.
Emergent Bilingual / LPAC Responsibilities
● Provide targeted instructional support for Emergent Bilingual students using sheltered
instructional strategies aligned to the English Language Proficiency Standards (ELPS)
● Lead and facilitate campus LPAC meetings, including initial, annual, review, and exit
meetings in compliance with state requirements
● Ensure accurate and timely completion of LPAC documentation, including student records,
accommodations, and parent notifications
● Monitor implementation of LPAC decisions, including instructional accommodations and
program services
● Collaborate with teachers and campus staff to support Emergent Bilingual students’ access
to grade-level curriculum and language development
● Interpret and use TELPAS and other student performance data to monitor progress and
inform instructional and program decisions
● Communicate with parents regarding student progress, language development, and LPAC
decisions in accordance with program requirements
● Ensure campus compliance with federal, state, and local requirements for Emergent
Bilingual programs

● Supervise assigned teacher para(s) and volunteer(s), student teacher(s), intern(s), beginning
teacher(s) as needed.
