The DoubleTree Engineering Team keeps the physical property maintained and attractive with regular upkeep and upgrades while tracking tasks and completion.
A key part of this role is meeting needs for maintenance in guest areas while providing excellent guest service recovery where guests are affected by maintenance needs.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Perform novice Electrical, Plumbing, Mechanical, Carpentry, Appliance, and/or Furniture repair tasks to keep building and equipment operating efficiently
• Perform periodic preventive maintenance as indicated by inspections, department assignment calendars, or computer program organizing maintenance needs
• Conduct inspections during shifts according to checklists to verify proper functioning of equipment and address maintenance needs proactively.
• Participate and engage in training to stay informed and refreshed on processes and proper use of equipment available.
• Provide excellent guest service by responding to calls for maintenance quickly and courteously.
• Perform work in a manner safe to employees and guests
• Share suggestions and sample new products and tools continually to improve Engineering processes
• Other duties as-assigned

• Build and maintain subject-matter-expertise in Hotel property and equipment
• Familiar with usage of checklists and computer-based programs to track work order assignment and completion

• Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy to defuse anger and collect accurate information
• Strive to build and maintain good and productive relationships with all team members across departments
• Able to prioritize and complete work assignments without constant supervision and direction, using problem solving skills to find best solutions for various and changing problems
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
• Previous experience in a Maintenance, Contractor, or similar industry strongly preferred, willing to train motivated learners
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including shifts longer than 8 hours
