POSITION SUMMARY.

The Educational Support Services (ESS) Assistant provides part-time instructional support to students through small-group and individualized interventions under the direction of the Director of Educational Support Services and classroom teachers.

This role focuses on implementing established intervention strategies, supporting classroom instruction, and assisting with student learning needs in a structured and Christ-centered environment.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES.

Instructional Support

  • Provide small-group and one-on-one academic support using established intervention plans and instructional materials. 
  • Reinforce concepts introduced by classroom teachers and ESS staff. 
  • Assist students in developing academic skills and completing assigned work. 

 Classroom & Student Support

  • Provide push-in support within classrooms to assist with accommodations and differentiated instruction. 
  • Support teachers in maintaining an effective and orderly learning environment. 
  • Assist students with staying on task and engaged in classroom activities. 

 Progress Monitoring & Documentation

  • Track student participation and progress as directed by ESS leadership. 
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of support provided. 
  • Report observations and concerns regarding student progress to supervising staff. 

 Collaboration & Communication

  • Work closely with ESS staff and classroom teachers to support student needs. 
  • Participate in meetings as requested to discuss student progress and support strategies. 
  • Communicate professionally with staff and, when appropriate, families. 

 Mission Integration

  • Support a Christ-centered learning environment through positive interactions with students. 
  • Model Christian character and encourage respectful, supportive behavior.


QUALIFICATIONS.

Christian Faith & Character

  • Profess and demonstrate a personal commitment to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
  • Exhibit a consistent Christian testimony and adherence to biblical principles in personal and professional life.
  • Demonstrate spiritual maturity, humility, and a strong commitment to excellence and servant leadership

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma required; some college coursework in education or related field preferred. 
  • Experience working with children in an educational or structured environment preferred.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Ability to follow instructional plans and guidance from supervising staff. 
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills. 
  • Ability to work effectively with students of varying abilities. 
  • Basic organizational and documentation skills. 
  • Ability to remain patient, flexible, and supportive in a classroom setting.


EMPLOYMENT TERMS.

  • This position is classified as part-time, hourly, non-exempt and is governed by an annual professional school staff agreement aligned to the academic calendar. 
  • The ESS Assistant supports the school’s instructional program and operates within a structured, supervised role assisting professional staff. 
  • The position follows an academic-year work schedule, with hours assigned based on student needs, intervention schedules, and program requirements. 
  • As a non-exempt employee, the ESS Assistant is required to accurately record all hours worked and will be compensated for all hours worked in accordance with applicable wage and hour laws. Overtime must be approved in advance by the supervisor. 
  • Work schedules may vary throughout the school year based on student support needs. Limited additional hours may be offered during key periods (e.g., beginning or end of the school year), based on program needs. 
  • The ESS Assistant performs duties under the direction and supervision of ESS leadership and instructional staff and is not responsible for independent program or instructional decision-making.
  • Regular, reliable, and primarily on-site attendance is required. 
  • Employment is at-will and contingent upon successful completion of all pre-employment requirements, including background screening and adherence to the ministry’s Statement of Faith and Lifestyle Commitment.
