Role: Legal Operations Associate – Data Specialist
Reports to: Corporate Governance General counsel
Location: India - PUNE
Terms & Conditions: Full time, right to work required
Role Summary
The Legal Operations Associate Data Specialist is responsible for transforming legal and corporate data into strategic insights that support decisions related to resource allocation, team performance, outside counsel management, and operational efficiency. The role combines strong technical analytics expertise with a practical understanding of how legal departments operate.
Key Responsibilities
Analytics & Insights
- Collect, structure, and analyze legal data (litigation, contracts, advisory work, compliance, costs, KPIs).
- Develop dashboards and executive reports using tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar.
- Build analytical models to support budget forecasting, risk trend analysis, contract cycle performance, and law firm evaluations.
Data & Process Management
- Ensure data quality, accuracy, and standardization across legal systems.
- Define and document taxonomies, categories, and classification standards (e.g., matter types, spend categories, risk areas).
- Propose and implement continuous improvements in data‑related processes.
Support to Legal Strategy
- Translate data insights into clear, actionable recommendations for the Legal team and leadership.
- Support the creation of OKRs and KPIs for Legal Operations and Legal sub‑functions.
- Contribute to financial planning (budget, forecasts, savings tracking).
Technology & Tools
- Act as a technical point of contact for enhancements in legal systems (CLM, matter management, e‑billing).
- Develop automations or integrations when needed (Power Automate, scripts).
- Evaluate new tools and technologies that improve operational efficiency.
Requirements
Mandatory
- Experience in data analysis, BI, or analytics (preferably in legal or corporate environments).
- Proficiency with data visualization tools (Power BI, etc.).
- Strong skills in advanced Excel, SQL, and data modeling.
- Ability to translate complex datasets into clear messages for non‑technical audiences.
Preferred
- Previous experience in Legal Operations, Legal Management, or related fields.
- Familiarity with legal technology platforms (CLM, e‑billing, matter management systems).
- Knowledge of statistics and predictive modeling.
- Experience with automation tools (Power Automate, Python scripts, etc.).
