MANAGER - LEGAL
JOB PURPOSE & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Drafting/vetting Agreements, Tenders.
- Review and provide legal advice on tender documents
- Drafting court proceedings such as Notice, Reply, Plaint, written statement, affidavits, write petitions, etc
- Involves Litigation & Non Litigation
- Knowledge in labour laws (Industrial relations)
- Knowledge in Civil, Criminal and commercial laws
- Review and advise management on legal implications of internal policies and procedures.
- Review and draft contracts, agreements and internal policies and ensure that they are in compliance with all statutory or legal requirements
- Liaise with relevant departments to ensure that where legal risks have been identified, appropriate courses of action have been taken.
- Provide legal protection and risk management advice to management especially on contract management
- Continuously monitor compliance with statutory obligations and advise management accordingly
- Prepare, review and modify contractual instruments to assist and support various business activities
- Negotiate, review and draft documentation for business transactions and prepare and advise on the necessary checklist to be adopted to ensure information is submitted on time
- Responsible and accountable for overall quality, safety and security of operations.
- You will be responsible and accountable to make necessary operational decisions related to safety and security matters at all times whilst on duty.
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
- LLB Graduate from recognized university
- A Masters will be an added advantage
- Must be an Advocate of the High Court
RELEVANT EXPERIENCE
- At least 8 to 10 years of Legal experience gained through a combination of major law firm and in house experience as a legal counsel.
- At least 3 to 4 years legal experience ideally in a leading organization, with a proven track record in contract negotiation and drafting;
- A solid corporate and commercial background with experience in handling litigation and documentation is required.
- Experience in intellectual property protection and licensing and commercialization agreements.

- Good legal analytical skill
- Sound commercial sense and critical thinking skills, a proactive practical approach and the ability to manage a range of issues involving multiple areas of law, are critical traits necessary for this role.
- Mature, Analytical and team player.
- Knowledge of all applicable laws including civil, criminal, labor and consumer laws.
- Excellent legal skills with an ability to apply business solutions to legal problems.
- Ability to provide independent advice (orally and in writing) to senior level management on highly technical matters
- Demonstrate success in managing and conducting a variety of litigation matters;
- Good planning and organization skills
