Legal Director – APAC Deliver & Procurement

About the Role
Johnson & Johnson is looking for an experienced legal professional to provide legal counsel to the APAC Deliver & Procurement organization on strategic sourcing, procurement, contracting, and complex commercial transactions.
The role will partner closely with Procurement, Supply Chain, business stakeholders, and legal teams across APAC, providing practical legal guidance on high-value and complex supplier engagements.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide legal support to APAC Deliver & Logistics Procurement teams across sourcing and contracting activities, particularly in areas such as:
- Warehousing
- 3PL/4PL services
- Transportation
- Customs brokerage
- Logistics and related services
- Lead and support complex, high-value supplier negotiations, partnering with Procurement and business stakeholders to structure commercially sound agreements.
- Advise on escalated contractual matters and complex legal issues, working with internal attorneys, business partners, and subject-matter experts to ensure alignment with Johnson & Johnson policies.
- Act as the legal representative for the APAC Deliver Innovative Medicine Leadership Team and APAC Deliver MedTech Leadership Team.
- Provide legal counsel to the APAC Indirect Procurement organization on sourcing, contracting, supplier negotiations, and strategic procurement initiatives.
- Partner with the Global Services Source to Contract (S2C) organization in APAC on strategic legal and contractual matters related to products, services, and solutions.
- Assess contractual and commercial risks and ensure agreements appropriately address business requirements, risk allocation, and compliance considerations.
- Work closely with the Global Simplification and Innovation in Contracting (GSINC) Office to:
- Improve contracting processes and templates
- Develop and maintain contracting playbooks
- Deliver legal and contracting training
- Harmonize contractual documentation
- Drive process improvements and efficiency
- Provide independent legal support on key contracting matters and collaborate effectively with cross-functional and regional teams.
Required Qualifications
- LLB or equivalent law degree with a current license/certification to practice law.
- 10–15+ years of relevant legal experience gained through a Tier-1/Tier-2 law firm and/or in-house legal function within a multinational organization.
- Strong experience in commercial, procurement, and supplier contracting, preferably within a multinational environment.
- Demonstrated experience drafting and negotiating complex, high-value and cross-border/APAC supplier agreements.
- Strong procurement contracting experience across multiple categories, including:
- Logistics & Supply Chain
- Services
- IT
- Manufacturing
- Indirect Procurement
- Third-party/vendor agreements
- Strong drafting, contract review, and redlining skills, with hands-on experience handling provisions relating to:
- Liability and liability caps
- Indemnities
- Service levels/SLA
- Intellectual Property
- Data Protection/Privacy
- Commercial terms and risk allocation
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication, negotiation, collaboration, and organizational skills.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to provide practical, commercially focused legal advice.
- Excellent written and spoken English, including strong legal drafting capability.
- Ability to work with a strong sense of urgency and effectively prioritize multiple high-value matters and business requirements.
Location & Availability
- Mumbai, India – mandatory
- Should be comfortable attending meetings aligned with APAC time zones.
- This is a 1-year contractual opportunity with Johnson & Johnson.
