Lee County Library System is looking for a friendly and motivated Library Associate (Circulation Supervisor) to join the team at Bonita Springs Public Library or Dunbar-Jupiter Hammon Public Library. In this role, you’ll be a go-to person for library visitors, helping people find what they need, answering questions, and making sure everyone has a positive experience. You’ll also lead and support a team of Library Assistants, keeping daily circulation services running smoothly and efficiently.
We are looking for someone who enjoys working with people, brings positive energy to a team, and takes pride in great customer service. The ideal candidate is creative, dependable, and comfortable connecting with individuals from all backgrounds, with a genuine passion for serving the community.
Position Duties
What You'll Do
- Lead, train, and support circulation staff to deliver friendly, efficient service while following library policies.
- Set goals, monitor performance, and provide regular feedback to team members.
- Create staff schedules to ensure smooth daily coverage.
- Assist patrons of all ages with materials, technology, and general library services.
- Use library systems to manage circulation, process holds, update patron records, and generate reports.
- Handle returned materials, including checking condition and shelving.
- Support reference questions, displays, and library programs—including planning and leading activities.
- Oversee cash handling, deposits, and reconciliation of fines, fees, and other transactions.
- Complete administrative and clerical tasks to keep operations running smoothly.
- Take charge of the library during assigned shifts as needed.
- Contribute to system-wide projects, committees, and hiring efforts.
- Order and track basic supplies and equipment.
To succeed in this role, you’ll need strong communication skills, the ability to work collaboratively with a team, and a commitment to providing inclusive service to a diverse community. You should be comfortable engaging with patrons of all ages, including children, teens, and those who speak languages other than English. Initiative, creativity, and flexibility are key—along with a willingness to grow and learn.
Minimum Qualifications
What We're Looking For
Minimum Qualifications
- A combination of education and experience equivalent to an Associate’s Degree or two years of college coursework
- Two (2) years of customer service or closely related experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- Two (2) years of experience in a library setting
- One (1) year of supervisory experience
- A valid Florida Driver’s License
Other Qualifications
Work Schedule: Full-time, 80 hours bi-weekly, hours and days will vary to include evenings, Saturdays and some Sundays.
Location Flexibility: Employees may be reassigned temporarily or permanently to other locations in the system based on operational needs
