Role Description Lecturers in the Mechanical Department will design and deliver lectures, tutorials, and laboratory sessions in core mechanical engineering subjects for undergraduate students. Responsibilities include preparing lesson plans, teaching materials, and assessments, as well as evaluating student performance and providing academic guidance. Lecturers will contribute to curriculum development, participate in departmental meetings, and support accreditation and quality assurance activities. Additional duties may involve mentoring students, supervising projects, engaging in academic or applied research, and collaborating with colleagues on academic initiatives. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Mangaluru, requiring regular presence on campus for teaching and student interaction.
Qualifications
- Relevant academic background in Mechanical Engineering (minimum of a Master’s degree; Ph.D. or progress toward a Ph.D. is an advantage).
- Strong knowledge of core mechanical engineering domains such as thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, solid mechanics, manufacturing, and machine design.
- Demonstrated teaching, presentation, and classroom management skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly.
- Experience with laboratory instruction, practical demonstrations, and the use of engineering tools, software, and equipment.
- Ability to design syllabi, assignments, and assessments aligned with institutional and accreditation standards.
- Good research aptitude, including the ability to guide student projects and contribute to academic or industry-oriented research.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and strong interpersonal skills for working with diverse students and colleagues.
- Commitment to ethical conduct, student-centered learning, continuous professional development, and collaborative departmental work.
