About the Role
We are seeking a highly experienced Moodle Tech Lead to drive the technical strategy, development, and operations of our Moodle-based Learning Management System (LMS). This role will lead platform architecture, development, integrations, and performance optimization while managing a team of developers to deliver a seamless learning experience for over 350,000 global learners. The ideal candidate combines strong Moodle expertise with technical leadership and a passion for building scalable educational platforms.
What You Will Do
- Lead end-to-end Moodle platform development, customization, and feature enhancements
- Design and implement custom themes, workflows, and user experience improvements
- Develop, maintain, and audit Moodle plugins including activity modules, authentication modules, reports, and custom blocks
- Integrate Moodle with third-party platforms including CRMs, payment gateways, SSO/SAML providers, and REST APIs
- Evaluate and deploy third-party Moodle plugins with a focus on security, scalability, and performance
- Oversee Moodle server administration, upgrades, patches, and performance optimization
- Manage database performance, caching mechanisms, CDN integration, and infrastructure scalability
- Ensure platform uptime, disaster recovery readiness, monitoring, and incident management
- Establish and enforce LMS security standards, access controls, and data privacy compliance
- Lead sprint planning, code reviews, release management, and technical documentation
- Collaborate with product, operations, and external Moodle partners to drive platform improvements
- Mentor and guide development teams while promoting engineering best practices

Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field
- 5+ years of hands-on Moodle development and administration experience
- Proven experience leading technical teams and managing cross-functional stakeholders
- Experience supporting large-scale LMS platforms with global user bases
- Prior experience in EdTech or enterprise learning platforms preferred
