About StayQrious:
StayQrious is a YCombinator company re-engineering education to make it more relevant to
the real world. It was founded by Aanand Srinivas, former learning head of Khan Academy,
in collaboration with Dr. Brian Johnsrud, founder of Stanford's learning science lab.
StayQrious Neoschool is a full-fledged virtual school built to replace conventional schools. It
is a model built on the first principles of learning science and behavioural economics.
Students work remotely with their peers and coach for 4 hours a day, and meet physically
once every few months. Don’t just stay curious—But join StayQrious!
About the role:
At StayQrious, we’re turning the traditional classroom upside down. Our curriculum is
project-based, and all concepts are introduced through real-world projects, eg, students
making a plan for “Human survival on Mars” and through this they learn about atoms and
molecules.
This would require you to create exceptional lesson plans in line with PBL pedagogy.
Just kidding!! Lesson plans are centrally designed by our curriculum team, so you can focus
on improving the students' experience.
So, what do you do as a Coach?
You are assigned a batch of 30 kids whom you have to lecture just enough to make them
score >60% but definitely lose 100% of their innate curiosity.
Well, actually, you would be responsible for helping a small group of kids achieve mastery in
core subjects like Maths, Science, Coding, etc.
You won’t be delivering lectures or leading sessions — instead, you’ll guide students as they
work through practice activities and assignments. Your role is to ensure that the students
understand what they are doing and develop independence in problem-solving and learning.
You will also have regular one-to-one conversations with the students to understand them
and their needs better
All the above happens in a psychologically safe environment that you create for the students
so they can share their successes and challenges openly and grow.
You are a great fit for a learning coach if you:
● Have a love for maths and have built the same in your students before. Strong
expertise in 8th-10th Maths. You love good puzzles.
● Have impeccable English communication skills.
● Have a quirky and playful personality around kids; you feel comfortable asking silly
questions, cracking jokes, and students see you as a friend.
● Have an understanding and empathy for students.
No “Know it all” mindset or “Your feelings are not valid” answers.
● Are passionate about teaching and making a real impact, a teacher by choice.
● Are a Quick self-learner. If you don’t know something today, you can research and
learn it by tomorrow.
● Have immense curiosity about new things, and you can model it for your kids.
● Have a growth mindset—you love learning new things and will thrive in our constantly
evolving environment.
● Have good taste in content. You know the difference between a boring presentation
and an engaging resource.
● Are comfortable with technology. You can use AI tools.
● Take feedback in a positive way and implement it to keep improving.
● People with Karaoke/Improv skills, skip ahead to the last interview round!....JK!
Perks and Benefits:
● Work from home.
● Own a part of the company as ESOPs
● Get trained on learning science, behaviour science, facilitation skills, and more by
self-proclaimed 😏pioneers in the field of education.
● Your everyday life would be full of smiles.
