Job details:
Why this role
We build Risk Intelligence products that help customers make trusted decisions in real time. As a Senior Engineer, you’ll turn ambiguous problems into working products—from discovery and MVP through reliable, scalable operations—keeping the customer and product at the center and taking end-to-end ownership of outcomes.
Technology note: Our ecosystem includes Azure/.NET and other platforms, but we choose the best stack for the outcome and evolve it as we learn. Your craft—problem framing, sound design, quality, observability, and live-site discipline—matters more than any single tool.
What you’ll do
- Build complete features 0→1: partner with Product/Design to clarify problems, define MVP scope, ship iteratively, and measure time‑to‑first‑value (TTFV) and adoption to guide the roadmap.
- Operate at scale with reliability: instrument services, set SLOs, and practice on‑call/incident response with blameless learning so we “build it, run it” as a team.
- Apply best engineering practices: write secure, well‑tested, maintainable code; perform high‑quality reviews; improve CI/CD, test pyramid, and observability.
- Design for outcomes, not tools: contribute to service/API design, domain boundaries, data modeling, and build‑vs‑buy tradeoffs; balance performance, cost, and security.
- Mentor and multiply: elevate team quality through pairing, design docs, and actionable feedback; model inclusive collaboration across Product, SRE, Security, Data, and Compliance.
- Innovate responsibly: run small spikes/experiments with success criteria; scale or sunset based on evidence—shipping improvements that matter to customers.
What you’ll bring
- Depth in software engineering building and running customer‑facing systems at meaningful scale; strong debugging, performance, and reliability instincts.
- Expertise in **one** backend language (e.g., C#/.NET, Java, Go, or Node/TypeScript) and **openness to learn/adopt others as needed** to achieve the best outcome.
- Track record of 0→1 delivery: turning vague problems into shipped MVPs and iterating quickly with real usage data.
- Sound architectural thinking: communicate tradeoffs (cost/latency/operability/security) and make pragmatic decisions that age well.
- Product mindset & communication: explain complex technical topics to non‑engineers and align work to user/business outcomes.
How we’ll measure success
- Product outcomes: improved TTFV, adoption/retention, and customer feedback informing roadmap decisions.
- Software delivery (DORA): improving change lead time and deployment frequency, with faster failed‑deployment recovery and lower change failure rate.
- Reliability & quality: SLO attainment, incident/defect trends, and strong observability signals that shorten time‑to‑restore.
- Engineering excellence: code review quality, test automation depth, and measurable improvements to developer experience/tooling.
Technologies you may use (illustrative)
- Backends & APIs: **one** of C#/.NET, Java, Go, or Node/TypeScript (expert in one; willing to learn others)
- REST/gRPC
- event‑driven patterns
- Frontends: Web (React/Next)
- design systems
- accessibility
- Cloud & Platform: Azure/AWS
- containers/orchestration
- CI/CD
- IaC
- secrets & identity
- Data & Observability: relational/NoSQL
- streaming
- metrics/logs/traces
- cost & performance telemetry
- We select and evolve the stack based on customer value, operability, and time‑to‑impact—not allegiance to any single technology.
Ways of working
Hybrid collaboration with intentional in‑person time for planning/design and post‑incident reviews, balanced with deep‑work flexibility and a live‑site, DRI mindset.
