Revolutionize cloud cost management at the forefront of a global IT powerhouse! As a Senior Technical Product Manager on our FinOps team, you will be a leader in the dynamic world of Azure, GCP, and AWS. You will be pivotal in driving the strategy and development of our cutting-edge, internally-built cost management application, which is the cornerstone of our FinOps practice. This application is critical to how we track, forecast, and optimize hundreds of millions of dollars in cloud spending. This isn't just another job; it's a launchpad for your career.
In this leadership role, you will be responsible for the product vision, strategy, and execution of the backend and data engineering aspects of our cost management application. You will partner with an existing Technical Product Manager who focuses on the UI/UX, and work alongside experienced engineers and product leaders to shape the future of our cloud cost optimization capabilities. Primary Responsibilities
- Product Strategy and Roadmap (40%):
- Define and own the product vision and strategic roadmap for the backend and data engineering components of our cost management application, ensuring alignment with the overall FinOps and company objectives
- Collaborate with senior leadership, engineering, and business stakeholders to define product priorities and make strategic trade-offs
- Conduct market research and stay current with industry trends in FinOps, cloud cost management, and data engineering to identify new opportunities
- Execution and Delivery (40%):
- Translate the product strategy into detailed requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria
- Partner closely with the data engineering team to manage the product backlog, groom and size user stories, and ensure timely delivery of high-quality features
- Serve as the key liaison between the engineering team and business stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and alignment throughout the development lifecycle
- Define and analyze metrics that inform the success of the backend and data engineering aspects of the product
- Leadership and Collaboration (20%):
- Act as a mentor and coach to other product managers on the team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous learning
- Champion the FinOps culture across the organization, evangelizing the value of our cost management application and driving its adoption
- Collaborate with the UI/UX TPM to ensure a cohesive and seamless end-to-end user experience
- Represent the team in senior leadership forums, providing updates on the product roadmap, delivery progress, and key performance indicators
- Comply with the terms and conditions of the employment contract, company policies and procedures, and any and all directives (such as, but not limited to, transfer and/or re-assignment to different work locations, change in teams and/or work shifts, policies in regards to flexibility of work benefits and/or work environment, alternative work arrangements, and other decisions that may arise due to the changing business environment). Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience (A Master's degree or MBA a plus)
- 6+ years of experience in product management, with a significant portion in a technical or data-focused role
- Experience working with large-scale data systems, data warehousing, and ETL processes
- Deep understanding of cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP), including their billing and cost management services
- Solid familiarity with FinOps principles and practices
- Proven track record of managing and launching successful data-intensive products or backend systems
- Technical Acumen: Deep understanding of backend architecture, data pipelines, and APIs. You can have credible discussions with engineers and architects to make sound technical decisions
- Agile Proficiency: Expertise in Agile methodologies like Scrum and Kanban, with a proven ability to facilitate key Scrum meetings and manage a product backlog
- Strategic Thinker: Proven ability to define and drive the long-term vision and strategy for a technical product. You can translate business needs into a product roadmap and get buy-in from stakeholders at all levels
- Data-Driven: Proven exceptional analytical and financial modeling skills. You don't just create dashboards; you build data-driven business cases to influence executive-level decisions
- Financial Expertise: Proven solid analytical skills to interpret financial data, identify trends, and make sound financial decisions
- Leadership and Influence: Proven ability to lead and mentor a team, and to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority. You are a solid communicator who can articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Innovative Mindset: Proven proactive and innovative individual with a passion for bringing new ideas to the table and driving continuous improvement
Preferred Qualification
- Experience with AI-powered tools (e.g., Copilot, ChatGPT) to enhance personal productivity and a basic understanding of machine learning concepts
