About the Mission
At TAMIZH, we aren't just building apps; we are building the Spatial Computing OS of the future. We are an XR research and product startup dedicated to developing compact XR smart glasses that integrate advanced optics, spatial sensing, and real-time rendering.
With ₹21 million in pre-seed funding from StartupTN, we are rapidly moving from vision to working prototypes. We need a core engineer to own the OS stack that brings our hardware to life.
The Role
This is a Platform Engineering role. You won't be building UIs or mobile apps. You will be working on the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) and the Linux Kernel to optimize for ultra-low latency, spatial tracking, and high-performance XR workloads.
You will thrive here if:
- You enjoy deep system-level debugging and hardware bring-up.
- You are comfortable modifying Android HALs and system services.

What You’ll Work On
- AOSP Customization: Modify and extend Android for XR-specific use cases.
- Qualcomm Integration: Work deeply with Snapdragon BSPs and vendor components.
- Low Latency Pipelines: Optimize graphics and sensor fusion (IMU + Camera) to reduce motion-to-photon latency.
- Kernel & Drivers: Develop/debug Linux kernel drivers (I2C, SPI, UART) and manage Device Trees.
- Hardware Bring-up: Collaborate with hardware teams to validate system stability on custom prototypes.
Technical Requirements
- Strong AOSP Internals: Deep knowledge of SurfaceFlinger, WindowManager, and InputManager.
- Qualcomm Expertise: Experience with Snapdragon platforms and tools like QFIL, QPST, or QXDM.
- HAL Mastery: Experience with HIDL/AIDL HALs for sensors, cameras, and displays.
- Languages: High proficiency in C/C++ (Native/System) and Java/Kotlin (Framework).
- Tools: Expert in Git/Repo, Soong/Blueprint, and system profiling (Perfetto, Systrace).
Bonus Points: Experience in OpenXR, computer vision devices, or Vulkan/OpenGL ES.
