A Lead Software Engineer is responsible for guiding the design, development, and delivery of scalable software systems while providing technical leadership to engineering teams. The role focuses on building high-quality applications, mentoring engineers, and driving best practices across architecture, coding standards, and system performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of scalable and high-performance software applications
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to software engineers
- Collaborate with product managers, architects, and stakeholders to define technical solutions
- Review code to ensure quality, maintainability, and adherence to engineering standards
- Design system architecture and contribute to key technical decisions
- Identify performance improvements and optimize system reliability and scalability
- Troubleshoot complex technical issues and guide teams toward effective solutions
- Ensure adoption of modern development practices, testing strategies, and documentation standards
- Coordinate development efforts across teams to ensure timely project delivery
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- 6–10 years of experience in software development
- Strong programming experience in languages such as Java, Python, C#, or similar technologies
- Experience designing and building scalable backend systems and APIs
- Strong understanding of software architecture and system design principles
- Experience with distributed systems or microservices architecture
- Proficiency with version control systems such as Git
- Strong problem-solving and technical leadership skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
- Familiarity with containerization tools such as Docker and Kubernetes
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
- Experience leading engineering teams in agile development environments
