About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Software Engineer to join our Operations & Technology Fraud Products team. In this role, you will be instrumental in developing and enhancing Mastercard's Decision Management Platform, which plays a critical role in combating fraud and verifying cardholder identities. The platform is a sophisticated, Java-based system capable of processing billions of transactions per month within milliseconds, employing a multi-tiered, message-oriented architecture designed for high performance, reliability, and scalability. As a Lead Software Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering innovative technical solutions, guiding the development team, and ensuring the seamless operation of our fraud detection capabilities. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on industry-leading solutions, utilizing the latest technologies to address complex business challenges in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background with proven experience in software development, particularly in building large-scale, multi-tier applications. You should have a solid understanding of Java, RESTful web services, and modern frameworks such as Spring Boot. Experience with database scripting, especially Oracle and SQL, is essential. Familiarity with containerized environments like Kubernetes or OpenShift, as well as knowledge of front-end frameworks such as Angular or React, will be advantageous. Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills are required, along with the ability to work effectively in an Agile development environment. Candidates should have a passion for continuous learning and innovation, with a proactive approach to tackling challenging technical problems.
Responsibilities
As a Lead Software Engineer, your primary responsibilities will include:
- Designing, developing, and implementing high-quality software solutions that meet business requirements and adhere to Mastercard standards and best practices.
- Leading the day-to-day activities of the development team, ensuring timely delivery of features and fixes while maintaining high standards of code quality and performance.
- Collaborating closely with technical leads and stakeholders to define system architecture, technical specifications, and project timelines.
- Acting as a subject matter expert during production support, troubleshooting incidents, and resolving complex issues efficiently.
- Participating in proof-of-concept initiatives to evaluate new technologies, frameworks, and vendor solutions, guiding strategic technology decisions.
- Creating comprehensive technical documentation, including requirements, use cases, design artifacts, test strategies, and deployment plans.
- Mentoring team members, sharing knowledge on best practices, and conducting technical training sessions to foster continuous improvement.
- Conducting code reviews, security assessments, and quality inspections throughout the SDLC to ensure compliance with Mastercard standards.
- Promoting process efficiencies and standards, contributing to the evolution of development methodologies and workflows.
