Backend Engineering
- Design, implement, and maintain backend services and APIs, with a focus on scalability, reliability, and performance.
- Build and evolve GraphQL and/or REST APIs consumed by multiple front‑end clients.
- Own service‑level concerns including data access, validation, error handling, and API contracts.
Production Systems & Reliability
- Build production‑ready services with proper logging, monitoring, alerting, and performance tuning.
- Participate in production support and incident resolution, owning issues through root cause and fix.
- Ensure systems are resilient, observable, and maintainable over time.
System Design & Reusability
- Contribute to shared development patterns, libraries, and service templates to promote consistency and reuse.
- Make thoughtful trade‑offs between speed of delivery and long‑term system health.
- Help reduce duplication by designing solutions meant to be reused across multiple applications.
Full‑Stack Collaboration
- Partner closely with front‑end engineers to ensure smooth end‑to‑end workflows.
- Support UI teams by designing clean, intuitive APIs and data contracts.
- Contribute to front‑end work (React/TypeScript) when needed to unblock delivery or validate integrations.
Documentation & Communication
- Document APIs, architectural decisions, and operational considerations.
- Communicate clearly with engineers and non‑engineering partners about system behavior and trade‑offs.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of professional software development experience.
- Hands‑on experience building backend services using Go, Python, or C# (Go preferred).
- Strong experience designing and working with GraphQL APIs (or equivalent API technologies).
- Experience building, deploying, and supporting production systems.
- Solid understanding of data persistence (SQL and/or NoSQL).
- Experience working in a cloud environment (Azure preferred, others acceptable).
- Strong ownership mindset — sees work through from design to production support.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing.
