Role Description: Sr. VMWare VCF Engineer
- Act as a technical expert for infrastructure programs involving VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF), vSphere, vSAN, NSX-T, and SDDC platforms.
- Lead deployment, configuration, upgrades, and troubleshooting of VCF components including workload domains, vCenter, ESXi hosts, vSAN clusters, and NSX networking.
- Drive lifecycle management activities for VMware Cloud Foundation ensuring platform stability, security, and scalability.
- Implement and maintain enterprise virtualization standards, including security hardening, disaster recovery, and capacity planning strategies.
- Oversee integration of VCF platforms with adjacent systems such as HCI infrastructure, hardware platforms, automation tools, and hybrid cloud services.
- Monitor and analyze system performance, identifying optimization opportunities to improve efficiency, reliability, and scalability.
- Collaborate with architecture, networking, and security teams to ensure alignment with enterprise standards and compliance requirements.
- Provide technical mentorship and guidance to junior engineers on VMware technologies, architecture, and operational best practices.
- Participate in platform reviews, roadmap discussions, and continuous improvement initiatives aligned with VMware ecosystem advancements.
- Stay updated with VMware product updates, licensing changes, and industry trends to drive innovation and modernization.
As a prospective candidate, you should possess:
- Strong experience in designing, implementing, and supporting enterprise-scale VMware vSphere environments.
- Hands-on expertise in VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF), including lifecycle management and workload domain operations.
- Deep knowledge of NSX-T, including distributed networking, micro-segmentation, and security policy management.
- Experience with vSAN deployments, storage policy configurations, and HCI capacity planning.
- Proven experience in managing enterprise virtualization platforms across Windows and/or Linux environments.
- Strong understanding of enterprise authentication and directory services such as Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, MFA, and Group Policy.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues and optimize system performance.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills to work with cross-functional technical teams.
- Experience in infrastructure automation, orchestration, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Self-driven mindset with the ability to manage critical infrastructure in high-availability environments.
Desired qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
- 8+ years of experience in VMware infrastructure engineering in enterprise environments.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with VMware Cloud Foundation and NSX-T implementations.
- VMware certifications such as VCP-DCV, VCAP-DCV, VCP-NV, or VCF Specialist are preferred.
- Experience with automation tools such as PowerShell, PowerCLI, Python, or Bash scripting.
- Familiarity with hybrid cloud platforms such as VMware Cloud on AWS, Azure VMware Solution, or Google Cloud VMware Engine.
- Exposure to Kubernetes platforms such as Tanzu, AKS, or EKS within VMware environments.
- Experience with enterprise hardware platforms including Dell VxRail, HPE Synergy, or Cisco UCS.
- Knowledge of Citrix technologies such as Virtual Apps and Desktops (XenApp/XenDesktop) is an added advantage.
- Familiarity with open-source virtualization platforms such as Proxmox VE is a plus.
