Position Profile – Lead Reliability Engineer (Rotating Equipment)
Position Summary
The Lead Reliability Engineer is responsible for developing and implementing reliability strategies that maximize the availability, integrity, and performance of rotating equipment across industrial operations. The role provides technical leadership in reliability engineering, asset integrity, maintenance optimization, and root cause analysis while ensuring compliance with international engineering standards and company objectives.
The successful candidate will serve as the subject matter expert for rotating equipment and lead multidisciplinary teams in improving equipment reliability, reducing lifecycle costs, and enhancing operational performance.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead the reliability engineering function for all rotating equipment, including pumps, compressors, turbines, blowers, gearboxes, generators, and associated auxiliary systems.
• Develop and implement asset reliability and maintenance strategies based on Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM), Risk-Based Maintenance (RBM), and predictive maintenance methodologies.
• Perform equipment criticality assessments and optimize preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
• Lead Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) investigations and ensure sustainable corrective actions are implemented.
• Analyze equipment performance trends, failure history, and maintenance data to improve plant reliability and availability.
• Provide technical guidance during troubleshooting of complex rotating equipment failures.
• Support major shutdowns, turnarounds, commissioning, and start-up activities.
• Review engineering designs and vendor documentation to ensure reliability requirements are incorporated during project execution.
• Monitor key reliability performance indicators (KPIs), including MTBF, MTTR, Equipment Availability, Reliability Index, and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance asset performance and reduce maintenance costs.
• Collaborate closely with Operations, Maintenance, Inspection, Projects, Procurement, and OEM representatives.
• Ensure compliance with corporate engineering standards, HSE requirements, and international industry codes.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in reliability engineering within the oil & gas, petrochemical, power generation, mining, or heavy industrial sectors.
• Minimum of 7 years of specialized experience with rotating equipment.
• Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Extensive knowledge of rotating equipment design, operation, maintenance, and failure mechanisms.
• Strong understanding of reliability engineering principles and asset management.
