About ALLEN Digital
Allen Career Institute is a market leader in test preparation (JEE, NEET, NTSE, Olympiads) with 35+ years of legacy. We are embarking on an ambitious digital transformation journey, building world-class EdTech products to blend the efficacy of our proven teaching methods with modern technology. Design is paramount in this mission—we are building intuitive, engaging, and highly effective learning platforms that will impact millions of students.
What are we looking for:
We are looking for a Lead Product Designer who can drive product thinking and execution at scale. This role requires a balance of strong hands-on design skills, strategic thinking, and the ability to influence teams and outcomes. You will work on high-impact problem areas such as student engagement, learning outcomes, and growth for JEE/NEET and emerging segments like Class 6–10.
You should be comfortable working in ambiguity, building from first principles, and shaping both product direction and team culture. As a lead, you will not only design solutions but also define problems, guide teams, and ensure design drives meaningful user and business impact.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Product Ownership: Define and drive product problems end-to-end—from discovery to delivery and iteration.
- Design Excellence: Translate complex problems into intuitive flows, prototypes, and high-quality designs, making strong design decisions under ambiguity.
- Outcome Focus: Define success metrics and continuously improve experiences based on data and user feedback.
- Collaboration & Influence: Work closely with cross-functional teams and drive alignment through clear communication and strong design rationale.
- Mentorship: Guide and support designers, raising overall team quality and problem-solving ability.
- Systems Thinking: Contribute to scalable design systems and evolving interaction patterns, including AI.
- User Understanding: Drive user understanding through research and data, ensuring insights directly inform product decisions and strategy.
- AI-Enabled Workflows: Leverage AI capabilities to design smarter, more adaptive user experiences, and champion the use of AI in both product thinking and design workflows
Required Qualifications
- 5-7 years of experience in product design, with proven ownership of features or product areas end-to-end
- Experience working in 0→1 or fast-scaling product environments is a strong plus
- Strong ability to define and solve user problems, not just execute on given requirements
- Demonstrated experience working closely with product, engineering, and business teams to drive outcomes
- Solid foundation in UX, interaction design, and visual design, with a portfolio showcasing both problem-solving and craft
- Experience designing complex or ambiguous systems (e.g., multi-step journeys, behavioral flows, or data-driven products)
- Ability to define success metrics and iterate based on user feedback and product data
- Experience mentoring or guiding designers, and contributing to raising design quality within a team
- Strong communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders and drive alignment
- Ability to balance speed and quality, making pragmatic trade-offs when needed
Strong bias for action, experimentation, and continuous learning
