Job details:
🚨 We’re Hiring: Lead BI & Analytics Engineer 🚨
💻 Power BI | Azure Fabric | Operational Analytics
📍 Remote (MST Hours)
📄 6-Month Contract (High potential for extension)
We’re looking for a Lead BI & Analytics Engineer who can step into a complex, messy BI environment and take full ownership of analytics and reporting.
This is not a typical dashboard-building role.
This is for someone who has fixed broken reporting ecosystems, cleaned up inconsistent KPIs, and rebuilt analytics that leadership can actually trust.
🔍 What You’ll Be Doing
- Take ownership of end-to-end analytics (discovery → KPI definition → modeling → dashboards → rollout)
- Reverse engineer existing Power BI dashboards to uncover data logic and gaps
- Standardize KPIs across systems, regions, and reporting layers
- Eliminate duplicate, inconsistent, or outdated metrics
- Redesign dashboards for clarity, performance, and usability
- Build scalable semantic models with proper data structure and performance tuning
- Validate data using SQL and ensure accuracy across systems
- Partner with stakeholders to define what should be measured — not just what exists
- Establish governance and a single source of truth
✅ What We’re Looking For
- 7+ years in BI / Analytics Engineering
- Strong Power BI expertise (data modeling, DAX, performance tuning)
- Strong SQL skills (validation, debugging, data analysis)
- Experience working in messy, unstructured BI environments
- Proven ability to fix broken KPIs and reporting logic
- Experience with Azure / Fabric / Data Lake environments
- Strong understanding of semantic modeling (grain, relationships, transformation layers)
- Ability to work directly with stakeholders and bring clarity to ambiguity
⭐ Big Plus If You Have
- Experience with operational/event-driven data (logs, incidents, ticketing systems)
- Exposure to IoT / security systems / service workflows
- Experience standardizing metrics across teams or regions
🚫 Not the Right Fit If You:
- Only build dashboards based on given requirements
- Focus mainly on visuals/UX without understanding data logic
- Have only worked in clean, structured environments
- Can’t explain how you’ve fixed broken reporting systems
💡 The Reality of This Role
You’ll walk into an environment with multiple dashboards, inconsistent KPIs, and unclear logic — and you’ll be expected to figure it out, fix it, and rebuild it properly.
If you’ve done this before and can confidently talk through real examples — we want to hear from you.
