At Cairn, we are committed to playing a lead role in the energy security of the country and geared up towards contributing half of India’s crude production. In this context, we are looking for a dynamic leader for the role of Lead Pipeline Manager.

The incumbent will be responsible for leading and supervising the execution of onshore pipeline infrastructure for upstream and midstream oil & gas operations. The role includes managing construction, installation, and commissioning of oil, gas, water injection, power fluid, and production fluid pipelines, ensuring safe, timely, and cost-effective delivery in compliance with Indian statutory norms and international standards.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Supervise pipeline construction activities including ROW clearing, trenching, welding, lowering, backfilling, hydrotesting, pigging, and commissioning
  • Coordinate EPC contractors to ensure adherence to project schedules, specifications, quality, and safety requirements
  • Collaborate with engineering teams and consultants to review MTOs, isometrics, construction drawings, and route maps
  • Ensure constructability, access planning, and route optimization across varied terrain (desert, rocky, agricultural)

  • Support pipeline execution planning, contractor mobilization, and resource allocation
  • Review and approve construction packs, route maps, and field modification requests
  • Participate in shutdown planning, tie-in activities, and commissioning coordination
  • Track and report pipeline KPIs including progress, cost, safety, and quality metrics
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and management-level execution and risk reports
  • Present execution status, risks, and mitigation plans to senior management
  • Ensure strict compliance with oil & gas regulations, HSE standards, permit-to-work systems, and environmental norms
  • Drive and sustain a strong safety culture across all pipeline construction phases
  • Conduct toolbox talks, job safety analyses (JSAs), safety audits, and site inspections
  • Participate in incident investigations and implement corrective and preventive actions
  • Monitor PPE usage, emergency preparedness, and response protocols at all pipeline sites
  • Implement QA/QC procedures including NDTs, holiday testing, hydrotesting, documentation, and audit readiness
  • Conduct audits and ensure closure of non-conformances
  • Liaise with local authorities, landowners, regulatory bodies, contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders for ROW management and statutory approvals
  • Maintain statutory, quality, and construction documentation for compliance and audits
  • Ensure construction activities comply with environmental regulations
  • Identify, monitor, and mitigate environmental risks (spills, emissions, land disturbance)
  • Support land restoration, sustainability initiatives, and environmental protection plans
  • Implement and support energy-efficiency initiatives to reduce resource consumption
  • Analyze energy usage patterns and recommend optimization strategies
  • Fulfil designated role in pipeline emergency response planning and execution
  • Ensure readiness of emergency equipment and response protocols during construction
  • Participate in mock drills and emergency scenario evaluations
