Description
We are looking for a Java Technical Lead to drive application modernization initiatives, including refactoring, database upgrades, and migration activities. This role involves leading modular implementation efforts, ensuring high-performance application design, and coordinating technical delivery across development sprints.
The ideal candidate will combine strong hands-on expertise with leadership capabilities to mentor teams, collaborate with architects, and support cloud-ready deployments.
Responsibilities
- Lead application refactoring, database upgrade, and migration initiatives
- Redesign transaction management and concurrency handling where required
- Drive modularization by breaking monolithic applications into scalable components
- Optimize performance-critical application and database interactions
- Coordinate integration efforts related to database migration and schema alignment
- Support containerization and validate deployments in cloud environments
- Collaborate with architects on modernization strategies and implementation
- Mentor and guide developers during sprints to ensure quality delivery
Requirements
- 8–12 years of experience in Java development
- Strong expertise in modern Java versions (Java 8/11/17/21)
- Experience with servlet-based applications and Apache Tomcat
- Strong knowledge of JDBC, SQL, and transaction management
- Hands-on experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL or Oracle)
- Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and performance tuning skills
- Understanding of containerization concepts and deployment workflows
- Exposure to AWS or other cloud platforms
