Role Description
Role Overview
We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to design, build, and scale high-performance backend systems that support large-scale eCommerce and enterprise platforms at Walmart. The role involves end-to-end ownership—from technical design to implementation and production support—while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Java and Spring Boot.
- Build event-driven and streaming solutions using Kafka for high-throughput, low-latency systems.
- Design and optimize data models using SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g., MySQL/Postgres, MongoDB/Cassandra).
- Own technical design, including low-level and high-level design, performance optimization, and system scalability.
- Ensure code quality through best practices, reviews, testing, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Collaborate with product managers, architects, and other engineers to deliver business-critical features.
- Troubleshoot production issues and drive root-cause analysis.
Required Skills
- Strong hands-on experience in Java, Spring Boot, and RESTful microservices.
- Solid experience with Kafka or similar messaging/streaming platforms.
- Strong fundamentals in SQL and experience with NoSQL databases.
- Proven experience in system and technical design for distributed systems.
- Good understanding of cloud-native architectures and microservices patterns.
AI Literacy (Add-on)
- Working knowledge of AI-assisted development tools (e.g., code generation, debugging, test creation).
- Ability to leverage AI tools to improve developer productivity, code quality, and design efficiency.
- Basic understanding of integrating AI/ML-powered services or APIs is a plus.
Nice To Have
- Experience in large-scale eCommerce or high-traffic platforms.
- Exposure to cloud platforms (GCP/AWS/Azure).
